Barmaid on Saturn is a comedic dance monologue featuring Kathy M. Austin as “Telracs the Barmaid,” a character from outer space. Set in a spaceship orbiting one of Saturn’s moons, Kathy incorporates improvised movement using her White Cane, a mobility aid for blind individuals. The monologue explores topics ranging from black holes and the Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics to human relationships and the essence of humanity in the vastness of space. As an artist with a disability, Kathy seeks to examine the concept of human fallibility in a futuristic context, delivering a delightful comedic experience that will captivate audiences.
