The Octopus Odyssey, an expedition into Costa Rica’s deep seas, spanned three thrilling weeks with a dedicated team of 18 β€” including scientists, policy makers, artists, and the University of Calgary’s notable Dr. Rachel Lauer – and their findings were nothing less than groundbreaking.

Against all odds, they witnessed baby octopuses emerging in what was presumed to be an unwelcoming territory. This remarkable observation marked the discovery of an active deep-sea octopus nursery, making it the fourth of its kind worldwide.

Bringing the expedition to life, Calgary’s renowned projection artists, MAPPERZ, will craft a captivating underwater spectacle at the Contemporary Calgary grotto. Dive into the magic of scientific discovery and experience the Octopus Odyssey firsthand, right here in Calgary.
